About This Experience
History
Created by the visions of Frederick Law Olmsted, a prolific American landscape designer & architect, and Lord & Burnham, a renown greenhouse construction firm, the Buffalo and Erie County Botanical Gardens first opened to the public in 1900 at South Park Buffalo. While it has remained the centerpiece of South Park, variable investment and maintenance by private owners led Erie County to purchase it for $1 in 1981. Since 2000, restoration and care for the conservatory has fostered a thriving botanical experience for the community.
